Air Quality | What Happens During Maintenance?
Air Quality | Annual air conditioning maintenance is an important part of keeping your system working properly. There are many different steps and procedures that make up a comprehensive maintenance appointment, far too many to fit into a single blog post. However, we felt that it was important to outline some of the more common steps taken during a maintenance appointment. The more you know about air conditioner maintenance, the easier it is to understand its benefits. With that in mind, let’s take a look at some air conditioner maintenance procedures.
Checking the Air Filter
The air filter is the part that protects your air conditioner’s evaporator coil from dirt and debris that might blow in from the ducts. If it is not changed or cleaned every few months, it can become clogged and cause problems for the system. So we always check the air filter to make sure that it is in good condition during a maintenance appointment.
Inspecting the Refrigerant Line
The refrigerant line is what transports refrigerant back and forth through your air conditioning system. If the line springs a leak, it will drain the system of refrigerant. This will prevent the air conditioner from actually cooling your home, and eventually cause it to break down completely. As refrigerant leaks are very difficult to detect without close observation, we are always quite careful to inspect every inch of the line during maintenance.
Dust and dirt buildup on the various parts of the air conditioner can actually pose a serious risk to the health of your air conditioner. If they manage to reach the coils, they can cause them to ice over and all sorts of other problems. We always make sure your air conditioner is free of dust during a maintenance appointment.
