AC Repair: Common issues as the temperature cools down

AC Repair

You should pay special attention to the performance of your air conditioning system. It has probably done an immense amount of work over the past few months, and even if it has received the best maintenance and care, it runs the risk of a malfunction because of all this stress and may need ac repair from a professional.

Below are some ac repair that technicians often need to perform on ACs at the close of summer. Please don’t put off any of these repairs just because cooler weather is approaching: the longer an ac repair is delayed, the more expensive it will be. You also do not want to risk the chance that the AC won’t work the next time your need it.

Replacing failed capacitors

The capacitors are crucial electrical components in an air conditioner, responsible for starting the motors and keeping them running. Because capacitors are sensitive to high heat levels, a very hot summer can shorten their lifespan and lead to them failing prematurely. When the motors that run the fans and the compressor in your AC stop working, you may need technicians to replace one of the capacitors.

Cleaning and defrosting the evaporator coil

Dirt and grime forming across the indoor evaporator coil of the AC will lead to the coil freezing (this is because the dirt forms an insulating layer, and the coil cannot absorb sufficient heat to warm up the refrigerant). You cannot simply scrape off the ice: call for repairs to defrost the coil, clean it, and look for other possible reasons for the ice formation.

Recharging lost refrigerant

One of the other reasons for the coil freezing is a loss of refrigerant due to leaks in the copper refrigerant lines. This can lead to catastrophic problems for the AC, and you must have professionals seal the leaks and recharge the refrigerant to its factory level as soon as possible.
