AC Service

AC Service

No matter what precautionary measures we take to ensure that  our Air Conditioning systems will not fail us, there will always be vulnerabilities that are simply beyond our control and ac service is required. Even if your home’s air conditioning is top-notch, new, or has had ac service, it’s bound to break down.  When this occurs, we do have considerable control over what kind of ac service we will have done.

Understand that the more we know in regards to the air conditioning system, the easier it is to distinguish which parts are the most susceptible to failure. With that in mind, we visited the United States Department of Energy website which provided information on the most common air conditioning problems encountered.

AC Service: What they found as The Number one Cause of air conditioning malfunction was improper operation.

Close the windows and doors while running the air conditioning.

Match the amount of refrigerant in the system to manufacturer’s specifications.

When your air conditioning unit fails, check the fuses or circuit breakers. Let the unit cool down before checking any fuses or circuit breakers.

Be sure to check the air conditioning filters regularly. Dirty air conditioning coils will impede proper air flow.

REFRIGERANT LEAKS

If your air conditioning is leaking, do not add refrigerant as the solution. The performance and efficiency of the air conditioner is greatest when the refrigerant charge exactly matches the manufacturer’s specification.

ELECTRIC CONTROL FAILURE

Check the electrical connections and contacts. If the circuitry is corroded, it is best to contact a professional to service these wires.

SENSOR ISSUES

Air conditioners have a thermostat sensor. It is located behind the control panel, which measures the temperature of air coming into the evaporative coil. Sometimes, the sensor is knocked out of alignment. Simply reposition it. The sensor should be near the coil but not touching it.

DRAINAGE

When it’s humid, check the condensation drain. Make sure it’s not clogged and is draining properly. Room air conditioners may not drain properly if not mounted level.
