No one likes the thought of needing AC service; especially with the summer months quickly approaching. AC Service can be costly and few people have a budget that allows them to drop hundreds of dollars at the drop of a dime. Still, AC service may be necessary if your AC unit stops working for any reason.
Here are some of the most common signs and symptoms of needing AC service, along with some easy troubleshooting tips you can do prior to calling us at Air Quality Control.
- AC Unit Won’t Turn On- If this happens, try and figure out where the problem lies. Turn the thermostat down a few degrees to make sure there isn’t something messed up with the sensor. Check the setting of the thermostat to make sure it is on the correct setting. If it’s set to “auto”, change it to “on” to see whether it will work or not. If that does not solve the problem, make sure power is getting to your unit. Check your breaker box and see if anything has tripped one of the breakers. If this has happened, reset it and make sure you aren’t running too many appliances at once.
- Dirty Air Filter- A dirty air filter will lead to a decrease in your AC system’s efficiency. You should change your filter once every two months. If at the end of that time period you are pulling out a filter that is caked with dirt and dust, you’ll need to change it every month instead. Changing your filter on a regular basis ensures airflow is staying constant and you aren’t getting a lot of dirt and dust caught in the system.
Of course, there will be AC repair problems that you can’t troubleshoot or fix on your own. If you encounter one of these problems, you should not hesitate to contact us at Air Quality Control to schedule your next AC service appointment now. .
